Name removed during e-KYC verification

What is it?

Under the National Food Security Act, eligible households get subsidised foodgrain through fair price shops. The NFSA portal publishes the complete beneficiary list — state, district, block, village and fair price shop wise — so anyone can verify their ration card status.

Benefits

Checking the list confirms your ration card is active and which fair price shop your family is mapped to. If your name is missing — often after e-KYC drives — you can apply for restoration before the next month's allocation.

Practical example: Geeta from a village in Nalanda, Bihar opens nfsa.gov.in, goes to the ration card report section, selects Bihar → Nalanda → her block → her fair price shop, and finds her family's names with their ration card number. She saves the number to check monthly allocation.

Eligibility criteria

  • ✓Households covered under NFSA priority or Antyodaya categories as per state criteria
  • ✓Aadhaar of all family members seeded with the ration card
  • ✓One ration card per household

Documents required

  • ✓Aadhaar of all family members
  • ✓Existing ration card (if any)
  • ✓Address proof
  • ✓Income certificate (as required by state)

How to apply — step by step

  1. Open nfsa.gov.in on your phone
  2. Go to the ration card / beneficiary list report section
  3. Select State → District → Block → Village or Fair Price Shop
  4. The full beneficiary list opens with ration card numbers
  5. Search your family head's name
  6. If missing, apply for a new card or correction on your state food portal or at the block supply office

Important dates

Lists update as states complete e-KYC and verification drives. Complete Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC promptly — cards with pending e-KYC can be suspended from the next allocation cycle.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • ✓Not completing e-KYC of all family members, leading to card suspension
  • ✓Duplicate ration cards in two states after migration — one gets cancelled
  • ✓Not checking which fair price shop the card is mapped to
  • ✓Paying agents for corrections — changes on the state food portal or supply office are free

Frequently asked questions

My name was in the list earlier but is gone now. Why?

Most often e-KYC or Aadhaar seeding is pending. Complete e-KYC at your fair price shop or state food portal and the name is usually restored.

Can I check the list for a different state?

Yes — the NFSA portal covers all states; select the state where the ration card is registered.

How do I add a new family member?

Apply on your state food department portal or at the block supply office with the member's Aadhaar and proof (birth certificate for children).

Is the ration card portable to another state?

Yes — under One Nation One Ration Card you can lift your entitlement from any fair price shop in India using Aadhaar authentication.
