PMAY Urban Beneficiary List: Check Application Status & Missing Name

Checking a PMAY Urban list starts with your application receipt: is it a legacy PMAY-U assessment or a PMAY-U 2.0 application? Use the matching official service and your reference number. There is no verified single nationwide 2026 list or guaranteed public name-only search for every 2.0 applicant.

Reviewed against the September 2024 PMAY-U 2.0 operational guidelines and official legacy status service. The legacy sitemap lists Search By Name, but that does not verify current public name search for 2.0 applicants. Portal availability and local verification vary.

What is it?

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 helps urban families without a pucca house build or buy one, mainly through the Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) vertical where assistance is released in installments directly to the beneficiary's account as construction stages are verified.

Benefits

If your name is in the approved list, assistance releases in stages as geo-tagged construction photos are verified. The status tracker shows exactly which stage your application or installment has reached. Keep in mind that PMAY-Urban and PMAY-Gramin are different schemes with different portals: urban applications are checked on pmaymis.gov.in through your Urban Local Body, while village applications appear on pmayg.nic.in. If you live in a municipal area, searching the gramin list will not show your name.

Practical example: Illustrative example, not a verified beneficiary: Farida's receipt identifies a legacy PMAY-U assessment. She uses the official assessment-status page and assessment ID. If the service is unavailable or no record appears, she takes the receipt to her municipal ULB office and asks whether verification is pending, the record needs correction, or the application belongs to a different programme. A status lookup alone does not prove payment reached her bank.

Eligibility criteria

  • ✓Urban family without a pucca house anywhere in India
  • ✓For BLC: EWS household with annual income up to ₹3 lakh and available own land; other verticals have separate eligibility
  • ✓House to be registered in the woman's name or jointly (for BLC)
  • ✓Not availed central housing assistance under any earlier scheme

Documents required

  • ✓Aadhaar cards of family members
  • ✓Income certificate/self-declaration
  • ✓Bank passbook (Aadhaar-linked)
  • ✓Land/ownership documents for BLC
  • ✓Passport photos and mobile number

How to apply — step by step

  1. Read your receipt and identify legacy PMAY-U versus PMAY-U 2.0 before choosing a portal
  2. For legacy assessments, open the official pmaymis.gov.in Track Your Assessment Status service
  3. Use the assessment-ID option or the name, father's-name and mobile option shown on that service
  4. For 2.0, start at pmay-urban.gov.in and follow its current official application or status link; do not assume the legacy search covers your application
  5. Save your reference number and the exact status message; check payment separately in your bank statement
  6. If a service is unavailable or your record is missing, take the receipt to your municipal ULB office for programme, verification and correction checks

Important dates

PMAY-U 2.0 applications go through ULBs and states on a rolling basis; installment release depends on construction-stage verification, not calendar dates.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • ✓Searching with a different spelling than the application — use the exact spelling from your acknowledgement slip
  • ✓Not completing geo-tagged photo verification, which holds the next installment
  • ✓Assuming DDA/flat schemes and PMAY are linked — they are separate
  • ✓Paying middlemen for 'list entry' — approval is done by the ULB and state, free of cost

Frequently asked questions

I applied but my name is not in the list. Why?

Applications move through ULB scrutiny to state approval; ask your municipal office for the current stage with your acknowledgement number.

How much assistance does PMAY-U 2.0 give?

For BLC, the September 2024 guidelines specify Central assistance of ₹1.5 lakh in most states, with a minimum State share of ₹1 lakh. Listed special-category jurisdictions have ₹2.25 lakh Central and at least ₹0.25 lakh State/UT share; other UT funding arrangements differ. Check the guideline table and your State/UT sanction. ₹2.5 lakh is not a uniform Central grant.

Can I get both PMAY-Gramin and PMAY-Urban?

No — a family can benefit under only one housing scheme.

How are installments released?

In stages, after geo-tagged construction photos are verified through the app by field officials.
