The deadline and benefit range are from the Ministry of Labour & Employment announcement on PIB. The amount is course-dependent, not a flat ₹25,000 for every student.

What is it?

This central scholarship supports education of children whose parent works in notified Beedi, Cine, Iron Ore, Manganese Ore, Chrome Ore, Limestone or Dolomite sectors. Applications are submitted on NSP and then verified by the institution and designated authorities.

Benefits

Eligible students receive annual financial assistance based on their class or course level. The published range is ₹1,000 to ₹25,000 per year. The sanctioned amount is transferred through the government payment system after verification.

Practical example: A first-year college student whose mother is a registered Beedi worker should complete NSP OTR, select the Labour Welfare post-matric scheme, enter the worker identity details exactly as shown on the certificate and submit before 31 October. The student should then ask the college nodal officer to verify the application.

Eligibility criteria

  • ✓Student must be the child of an eligible Beedi, Cine or specified mine worker
  • ✓Student must be enrolled in a recognised post-matric class or course in 2026-27
  • ✓Worker identity, income and other scheme conditions shown on NSP must be met
  • ✓The same study expense should not be claimed under conflicting scholarship rules

Documents required

  • ✓Student Aadhaar and Aadhaar-linked mobile for NSP OTR
  • ✓Parent's valid worker identity card/certificate
  • ✓Current admission certificate or bonafide certificate and previous marksheet
  • ✓Income certificate and eligible bank account details in the student's name
  • ✓Category/domicile certificate only where the NSP form specifically asks

How to apply — step by step

  1. Open scholarships.gov.in and complete One-Time Registration
  2. Log in, choose the 2026-27 Post-Matric Labour Welfare scheme and read its live guidelines
  3. Enter student, institution and parent-worker details without spelling mismatches
  4. Upload clear documents and submit before 31 October 2026
  5. Save the application ID and monitor institution/district verification status

Important dates

Submit the Post-Matric application by 31 October 2026. Institution verification may have a separate schedule shown in NSP; submission alone does not complete verification.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • ✓Claiming every student gets ₹25,000; the rate depends on study level
  • ✓Selecting Pre-Matric after its 31 August deadline has passed
  • ✓Using a parent's bank account where NSP requires the student's account
  • ✓Ignoring institution verification after online submission
