What is it?

PM SVANidhi (PM Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi) is run by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Banks, NBFCs and MFIs give collateral-free working-capital loans to vendors selling on streets, footpaths and markets in urban areas and nearby peri-urban areas.

Benefits

No guarantee is needed. Vendors who repay on time get a 7% yearly interest subsidy credited to their account, cashback for digital transactions, and become eligible for the next, bigger loan.

Practical example: Mohan sells samosas from a cart in Indore and has a vending certificate from the municipal corporation. He applies on the SVANidhi portal with Aadhaar-linked mobile and gets ₹15,000. He repays in 12 monthly installments, receives interest subsidy, and then applies for the ₹25,000 second loan.

Eligibility criteria

  • ✓Street vendor in an urban or peri-urban area
  • ✓Holds a Certificate of Vending / ID card issued by the Urban Local Body, or is in the ULB's vending survey
  • ✓Vendors left out of the survey can apply with a Letter of Recommendation (LoR) from the ULB or Town Vending Committee
  • ✓For the 2nd and 3rd loans: previous loan repaid

Documents required

  • ✓Aadhaar card with linked mobile number
  • ✓Certificate of Vending / vendor ID card or Letter of Recommendation
  • ✓Bank account details
  • ✓Voter ID or other KYC if asked by the lender

How to apply — step by step

  2. Verify your mobile number linked with Aadhaar via OTP
  3. Enter your vending certificate / survey reference or LoR details
  4. Fill the form, select a lender and submit; you can also apply at a CSC
  5. After sanction, the loan is credited to your bank account; repay in monthly installments

Important dates

Under the restructured scheme, loans can be sanctioned till 31 March 2030.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • ✓Applying without an Aadhaar-linked mobile number, which stops OTP verification
